The Roseville Pottery company began to market the Pine Cone line in 1931 after years of the design sitting on a shelf. The Pine Cone design was created by Frank Ferrel in the early 1900's. The design was rejected by Weller and Peters & Reed potteries. The best pieces done early in the mold are very well defined. This was their most prolific line with over 150 designs. Each one features small ovoid cones with branches as handles in background colors of blue, green and tan-brown. Sometimes unmarked, pieces bear marks that are both raised and impressed with occasional foil labels. Here we have a fantastic example of a 4 3/4 inch tall Brown Pine Cone Candle Holder #1099=4 1/2. This piece has a great glaze and wonderful mold. Enjoy this unique piece of spring in your own home. Exceptional candle holder in that it has no chips, no cracks, no scratches to glaze, little to no crazing, no repairs, no restoration. Any imperfections are from the firing/manufacturing process. The white spots are studio light reflections. All images are original and un-edited. Authentic vintage Roseville Pottery. Marked. Measurements Height : 4 3/4", Base: 4", Rim: 1" ID K3489
